History
The Regional Leadership Coalition (RLC) fills the niche for a neutral, non-partisan coalition of private sector leaders dedicated to regional awareness and education, regional communication and cooperation, and inspiring acion on issues with a major regional impact.
Beginning in 1999 a group of about 200 individuals came together for a Regional Leadership Coalition Summit to discuss differences, similarities and the future of the Greater Louisville/Southern Indiana region. The all-volunteer group was lead by Leadership Louisville and Leadership Southern Indiana.
Since that time, the RLC has prospered with funding provided by the Brown Foundation and the Ogle Foundation.
In 2007, the RLC reached several milestones including the launch of the Build the Bridges Coalition, an organization specifically focused accelerating the Ohio River Bridges project as quickly and as inexpensively as possible. The RLC also became an official initiative of its two respective chamber organizations, One Southern Indiana and Greater Louisville Inc. and the respective President & CEO’s of each organization were appointed Managing Directors of the RLC.
